This is another story that we rewrote based on photos and memories because we lost the original text.
Last night we stayed with the family in Lat Kabang.
In the morning we leave with two cars to Aranyaprathet where the border crossing between
Thailand and Cambodia
is, which we have to use.
The expectation is that it could be busy, all of Thailand leaves Bangkok to visit family.
And that expectation is also true, we end up in a big traffic jam when two highways come
together, but otherwise it is mainly slow driving at traffic lights every now and then.
In Aranyaprathet the cars are parked in a guarded parking lot and we walk to the border
crossing.
There we are split up at the Thai innigration, Tom has to stand in a very long line with all
foreigners, Pia and the entire family can 'walk through' almost immediately.
After at least an hour, Tom is finally through immigration and we all take a bus to a
parking lot where we will be met by a guide who will accompany us during this visit to
Cambodia.
With a Mercedes van, which has seen better days, we drive to
Siem Raep, Cambodia.
We first go to eat with the guide in a restaurant that looks nice but is very tourist-oriented. The food tastes good, but is quite bland compared to Thai food.
Then we are taken to the hotel, the Galaxy Angkor Boutique Hotel. We are not very positive about the rooms, air conditioning that does not work, no ventilation, musty air, bad electricity.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
